In our magazine Kunstletters #027, lines take center stage. Discover how different artists work with them. During Kunstletters Live, you’ll have the chance to meet some of these artists. They’ll tell you everything about their work (and process). On December 1, 2024, we invite you to Jóhanna Kristbjörg Sigurdardóttir’s studio, where you will also meet Nintya Vanhove, Subin Son, and Ward Delbeke. An afternoon packed with inspiration, plus coffee and tea.
Take a look inside the studio of Jóhanna Kristbjörg Sigurdardóttir, a visual artist with a love for experimentation. We’re invited to her studio at MORPHO in Antwerp, near Central Station. You’ll also meet Nintya Vanhove, Subin Son, and Ward Delbeke—three other artists who will talk about their creative processes in even more depth than in the magazine. Discover Nintya’s colorful sketchbooks and paintings, Subin’s metaphorical visual work, and Ward’s architectural constructions. Podcast creator and storyteller Emma Vanpaemel will host engaging conversations with the three guests. We’ll provide coffee and tea. Reserve your spot soon and experience Kunstletters live.
Jóhanna’s work emerges intuitively, guided by her hands. Her trust in gut instinct also shapes other decisions in her life, like her move from Iceland to Belgium. In recent years, her visual language has become more refined and distilled, as she searches for essence and inner expression. During Kunstletters Live, she will guide us through her palettes, rhythms, and sequences.
With his design studio draWForms, architect Ward Delbeke developed a unique construction principle that allows the creation of nearly any spatial figure or 3D geometry, from simple to complex. The result is an entirely new and distinctive visual language. Ward will reveal how he uses this visual language to build structures and explain the specific construction principles behind it.
Subin Son creates scenes where everyday objects and immaterial materials take center stage. Her works take the form of ephemeral sculptures, site-specific installations, experimental paintings, and architectural interventions. These works often transform over time. During Kunstletters Live, you’ll learn more about her cryptic pieces and the concepts behind them.
Armed with a pencil case full of pencils and a sketchbook in hand, Nintya Vanhove heads outdoors, into nature. Using elements from her drawings, she creates intuitive, colorful paintings full of line work and movement. Nintya will offer a glimpse into her sketchbooks, share more about her practice of drawing while walking, and explain how she builds her paintings.
